A commonly used treatment to soften frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines, Botox is also used to help significantly improve the quality of life for people who suffer from excessive underarm sweating, also known as excessive axillary hyperhidrosis. This has been an FDA-approved treatment since 2004 and is often requested during the warmer months in Austin.  At my plastic surgery practice, many of these patients seeking treatment with Botox for excessive often times wear dark-colored clothing so that the sweat spots are not noticeable, bring several changes of clothes with them when they leave the house, and are often extremely self-conscious about this problem.

Treatment with Botulinum Toxin Type A takes about 10 minutes per side and lasts between 6-7 months.  The cost is about $500 per underarm and can result in a significant improvement in quality of life.   This recent interview was featured on KXAN Austin with Erin Cargile. Take a look to learn more about his treatment.
