The Best Injectable is the Least Detectable

April Daniel, FNP-C

There is a saying in the aesthetic world that I like to base my practice around – “the best injectable is the least detectable.” So, what exactly does that mean to you as a consumer or a patient?

Here at The Piazza Center in Austin, TX, our goal is to customize the injectable treatment to suit your needs, whether its dermal fillers, BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®, collagen stimulators like Sculptra® Aesthetic, liquid rhinoplasty, or a combination of treatments, our focus is on patient safety and satisfaction.

Dermal Filler Injection Styles

To start, there are different types of styles as an injector.

The overdone look: One style approach that an injector performs on their patients is to have a very “done look” or an obvious treatment outcome when it comes to doing dermal filler in the face.

An exaggerated example would be a patient requests that they want their lips to be the size of Dallas and the injector performs that request for the patient, no questions asked or educated discussions had.

Or another example is that the patient wants everyone to know they have had an obvious treatment done and they don’t care necessarily about appropriate ratios or facial balancing because they are trying to emulate someone else’s look.

The underdone look: Another style approach is an ultra-conservative style in which you do “baby doses” or below average amounts of injectables.

There is nothing wrong with this approach, especially if you are just starting to dabble in aesthetics and or trying to dip your toe in the water. Sometimes, though, what can happen with this approach is that it is so conservative that you don’t end up seeing any result at all and you feel like you have wasted your time and money.

This can lead to disappointment, not meeting expectations, or thinking that a treatment didn’t work on you. In reality, you just needed more product to get the results that you are trying to accomplish.

The natural look (my favorite!): I would say in all the years I’ve been practicing, the majority of patients come in requesting to look natural, to restore their face to a more plentiful or youthful look, and that they just want to look good for their age.

That is where the philosophy comes into play that “the best injectable is the least detectable.”

Here at The Piazza Center, our goal is to help our patients look and feel good about themselves, not morph them into something that they are not.

The Secret to a Good Injector

Doing injectables, whether it be BOTOX or dermal fillers, is not about making someone look “plastic.”

I know there are many people that have had good injectables done that you would never know. Those are the friends or family that just never really seem to age, or they look like they are well rested or have a radiance about them.

Let me tell you a little secret: either they have really good genetics or a really good injector!

I tell my patients every day that they are my walking billboard; your friends aren’t going to tell you to your face that you look crazy, they are just going to ask who did your injections and then not come see me as a provider because they are afraid to look crazy too.

The goal is to have a natural result that people can’t quite put their finger on and figure out what it is that you have had done. Undetectable injectables are the key to looking amazing!

If you are interested in achieving enhancement with natural-looking results, please contact The Piazza Center at (512) 288-8200 or request a consultation online to schedule your injectable treatment with one of our experienced injectors.
