Meet The Staff

Your Laser Hair Removal Procedure

For women and men who are tired of ineffective, short-term solutions for hair reduction – shaving, bleaching, waxing, tweezing, or messy depilatory creams – laser hair removal is an excellent choice. The procedure is relatively quick, comfortable, and produces excellent results. Prior to your laser hair removal treatment, you will meet with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Piazza and our medical aesthetician to determine the best treatment protocol to meet your hair removal needs.

Our aesthetician utilizes a laser handpiece to deliver light energy through the skin to the hair follicles. This energy is absorbed by the dark pigment in the hair follicles, destroying the follicles while leaving the surrounding skin and tissue unharmed. Discomfort is minimal, with most patients comparing it to the light snap of a rubber band against their skin. Newer laser technology allows for the treatment of even large areas in a relatively short appointment time.

After a laser hair removal treatment, the skin may be slightly red, like a mild sunburn. No elaborate aftercare is required, but it is recommended that you stay out of the sun while you are undergoing laser hair removal.

Dr. Piazza Answers Common Questions

How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?

Most patients require a series of treatments because hair grows in cycles, and not all hairs are in the growth phase at the time of any given treatment. It is not uncommon to require anywhere from 3 to 8 treatments, usually spaced several weeks or months apart.

Will the unwanted hair ever grow back?

While laser hair removal is very effective, it typically does not destroy 100% of the hair follicles. It does diminish the hair growth to the point that most patients are extremely satisfied, as remaining hair is typically finer and lighter. Many patients benefit from a “touch up” treatment about once per year.

What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?

Our experienced, highly trained aesthetician performs laser hair removal on both large and small areas for women and men. Commonly treated areas include the face, chest, back, arms, underarms, bikini line and legs.

Your Laser Hair Removal Results

After the series of laser hair removal treatments is complete, you should experience a significant reduction in excess hair, to the point that other hair removal methods are unnecessary. Our laser hair removal clients report that they love the convenience of not having to shave, tweeze, or wax. This treatment can be a great enhancement to the active lifestyles of our Austin patients, who enjoy smoother, hair-free skin without razor bumps, stubble, or ingrown hairs.
