HALO®
The technology used by the HALO hybrid fractional laser revolutionized the field of laser skin resurfacing treatments. In Austin, TX, we use HALO’s combination of ablative and non-ablative features to resurface and tighten the skin while limiting downtime and customizing procedures for each patient.
What Is a Hybrid Laser?
Halo is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser, meaning it can deliver both non-ablative and ablative wavelengths to the same treatment area. That’s important because it gives patients the benefits of more aggressive ablative laser treatments with the shorter downtime associated with non-ablative lasers. The ablative feature treats the skin’s outer layer, the epidermis, while the non-ablative function treats the thick, deeper layer of skin called the dermis. This combination both resurfaces and tightens the skin, improving its texture and minimizing discoloration.
HALO uses a sophisticated tool that precisely senses how much laser light pressure and frequency your skin requires to break down the damaged epidermis and pave the way for new growth. It’s safe, effective, and well-tolerated by patients.
Our Injectable Experts
Hayley, Alison, and Dr. Piazza are happy to address any questions you may have about your injectable procedure at The Piazza Center.

What Happens During a HALO Laser Treatment?
A treatment begins with the provider applying a topical numbing cream to the treatment area. The numbing cream and HALO’s integrated cooling technology ensure most patients experience very little discomfort during treatment. It’s normal to feel some heat and perhaps an occasional prickling sensation during the procedure, but you should not feel any pain. In general, a HALO treatment is more comfortable than traditional laser skin resurfacing treatments.
HALO laser benefits at-a-glance:
- More comfortable than traditional fractional resurfacing
- Heals quickly
- Minimal social downtime
- Noticeable improvement within weeks
- No post-treatment dressing applied
The procedure takes about an hour to perform, depending on which areas are being treated. Immediately after the procedure, expect your skin to be red, swollen, and sensitive for about 2 to 4 hours.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
The number of treatments varies depending on your goals and the amount of sun damage to your skin. You can have 1 or 2 deeper, more aggressive treatments or choose multiple less-aggressive treatments to achieve a similar goal over a longer period of time. We recommend that HALO laser skin resurfacing be done once per year, but many of our patients choose to do the treatment every 6 months.
