Over time, the collagen of the face begins to break down. Lines and wrinkles may become more evident, or you may notice that the skin on the lower portion of the face is not as firm and supple as it used to be. While eating a healthy diet and regularly exercising can help maintain your body, a facelift in Austin, TX can help to rejuvenate the lower portion of the face and the neck to a more youthful appearance. By reducing excess fat and skin, as well as lifting sagging or stretched tissues, you can enjoy a refreshed appearance.
At The Piazza Center, we believe that beautiful surgical results are enhanced by a healthy lifestyle. Our aim is to help you achieve your cosmetic goals and desires. If you would like to find out more about face lift surgery, you can request a consultation online, or call our office at (512) 551-1067.
Your Face Lift Procedure
To perform your face lift in Austin, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Rocco Piazza uses the vertical suspension SMAS technique, which allows for significant contouring of the neck and lower portion of the face. When performing your facelift, Dr. Piazza will create the incisions inside the hairline and in the natural creases and folds of the face and neck, so that they are as inconspicuous as possible.
After the incisions are created, Dr. Piazza will remove excess fat or skin in the lower portion of the face and jowl area. At this time, the underlying facial tissues lifted to a more youthful position to restore volume in the upper cheek region. Then, the skin will be re-draped and your incisions will be closed. Depending on how extensive of facial correction is necessary, the procedure may take just a few hours to perform.

Dr. Piazza Answers Common Questions
Are facelift results permanent?
Many of my Austin facelift patients ask me this question during their consultation. While this procedure can help rejuvenate the face for years to come, it is not a permanent solution to aging. Unfortunately there is no procedure that will permanently keep the face rejuvenated; however, your facelift results should last for several years. If you take great care of your skin with prescription grade skin care products and use sunscreen daily, your results will be further enhanced and have greater longevity.
At what age should I consider a facelift?
There is no one age that a person suddenly becomes a candidate for this procedure. Each person is different, and may require facial correction at different times in their lives. Typically those who are candidates for a facelift procedure are middle-aged or older and experience lax, loose skin of the mid to lower face. The only way to find out if you are a candidate is to meet with a qualified surgeon for a consultation.
Can a facelift be combined with other procedures?
Yes, a facelift can be combined with other procedures for a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. For those looking to correct wrinkles of the upper portion of the face, your procedure may be combined with a brow lift or even eyelid surgery. Also, for Austin face lift patients who desire a non-surgical procedure in addition to their facelift, BOTOX® Cosmetic or injectable fillers may be an appropriate solution.

Your Face Lift Results
After your face lift, your face will be bandaged and protected. You may experience some swelling and bruising, and this is normal. Our patients return to the office on the first day after surgery to have their hair washed in our Medical Spa. In general, patients can expect to take about 2 weeks off from work for recovery. After 2 weeks, most of the swelling and bruising should subside, and you can begin enjoying the benefits of your new, rejuvenated appearance.
