Meet the Staff
The hard-working staff members at our cosmetic plastic surgery practice in Austin are the foundation of our success. They back up Dr. Rocco Piazza and Dr. Marcelo Antunes in all they do, providing expertise in the medical and business sides of the practice so we can all focus on giving our patients the best possible results and a pleasant experience from the first phone call to the final follow-up. Please read on to learn more about the staff who make up the backbone of our practice.
Teri Deabler, CMPE, COE
Teri recently joined The Piazza Team, but she is no stranger to medical practice management. She started her career in Philadelphia, where many of her family members still live, and where she met a surgeon who recruited her to manage his practice in California for many years, before eventually deciding Austin, Texas was where she belonged.
Teri has extensive experience working with highly skilled, medical/surgical teams where the focus is always on patient safety and satisfaction. She has also been involved with leading several construction projects to build beautiful and efficient medical facilities for her practice teams.
Teri enjoys doing rigorous fitness programs and loves spending time with her children and grandchildren (her daughter has two sets of twins). Most of the spring and summer she can be found out on Lake Travis on her pontoon boat with her husband Tom.
Jennifer Dorenkamp began her professional career in 1999 as a medical aesthetician in Tucson, Arizona. She has extensive training in medical skin care and laser treatments. Jennifer has also attended CoolSculpting® University in California and boasts years of clinical experience with this specialized device. Before transitioning to her role as surgical care coordinator, she worked closely with Dr. Piazza as his clinical assistant, caring for patients after surgery.
Jennifer has a true passion for making patients feel their best inside and out. She brings that enthusiasm to our patients here at The Piazza Center. She feels a commitment to each patient, helping guide each one through a plan that best fits his or her individual goals. This opportunity to connect with patients and build relationships along the way is what Jennifer enjoys most about her role.
After spending most of her life in Arizona, Jennifer, her husband, and their 2 children moved to Austin to be closer to family. They feel right at home here and are always eager to explore everything the city has to offer.
Jennifer Schechter is the licensed medical aesthetician and licensed intradermal cosmetic technician at The Piazza Center. She has been with us since 2014. Jennifer was born and raised in Austin, where she grew up surrounded by talented industry artists. She was mentored by her mother, who was trained in the 90s as an Anastasia master brow artist. This mentorship is what ignited her passion for makeup and the art of eyebrow sculpting. She’s taken eyebrow sculpting to the next level with micro-pigmentation using semi-permanent, hypoallergenic mineral pigment to achieve a natural appearance.
Jennifer’s philosophy is to educate patients on how to take care of their skin so they feel confident with or without makeup. She’s certified in dermaplaning, chemical peels, HydraFacial®, medical microneedling, and micro-pigmentation. She believes in customizing a plan for all patients based on their lifestyles, goals, and specific skin care needs. She understands that a skincare plan is ever-changing as a person’s skin goes through its normal yearly cycles. Jennifer lovingly calls herself a “personal skin care coach” who is there to cheer on her patients every step of the way.
Jennifer, along with her fiancé Ricky and her rescue dog Kona, has made Dripping Springs her home. Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking, catching the latest movies, and seeking out new adventures.
Customer Service Concierge
Crystal joined The Piazza Center in 2015, bringing with her more than 15 years of experience and education in cosmetology and customer service. She is excited to share her knowledge of cosmetic and beauty with our patients.
Crystal’s goal is to make every patient she works with feel beautiful inside and out. Crystal attended CoolSculpting University and is a certified CoolSculpting technician, providing more than 2 years of experience with consultations and procedures to our patients.
When she was 10, Crystal moved to Austin from El Paso and decided to make it her “forever home.” Outside of work, she loves to spend time with her large family. Crystal and her husband Daniel are baseball parents and their son Zachary’s biggest fans. They love this active city and everything it has to offer. They especially enjoy spending time outdoors.
Clinical Nurse & Operating Room Assistant
Heather Fontenot, RN, LSA, CSFA, has been working in the operating room for nearly 2 decades. Although she has surgical experience in many specialties, cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery are her passions. Since 2012, she’s been assisting Dr. Piazza. She is a licensed nurse, licensed surgical assistant, and a certified first assistant.
Heather officially joined tour team in December 2015 after earning her nursing degree with honors from Central Texas College. She continued her education and earned her bachelor’s degree, also with honors, from the University of Texas.
Heather received training as an assistant from the Meridian Institute for Surgical Assistants in conjunction with Vanderbilt College. She was licensed by the State of Texas Medical Examiners in 2011 and certified by the National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistance in 2007. She is also a member of the Association of Surgical Assistants, as well as the Association of Surgical Technologists.
Heather is currently working toward her Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification, which will further validate the specialized knowledge and skills she regularly uses as an operating room nurse. After obtaining this certification, she will then go on to earn her Certified Plastic Surgery Nurse (CPSN) certification, which will improve the proficiency of her practice in the specialty of plastic and reconstructive surgical nursing.
Camille Rodriguez, LVN
Licensed Vocational Nurse
Camille joined The Piazza Center in July 2019, bringing over seven years of nursing experience in a variety of fields such as primary care, orthopedics and corrections, but with plastic surgery being her greatest passion. As a nurse, Camille has always made it a priority to treat and care for patients as if they are her own family. She truly values the trust that is gained from patients and enjoys being part of the positive patient experience The Piazza Center gives. Camille is pursuing her Bachelors in Science of Nursing.
Camille lives with her husband, three kids, dog Sarge and cat Riley, just south of Austin. She loves spending time with her family and friends, enjoys tubing down at Canyon Lake in the summer, and during fall season is a faithful fan to Texas Longhorn volleyball and football games.
Donelle Mendoza, CMA
Donelle graduated as a Certified Medical Assistant from Central Coast College in 2017 with honors. She previously worked with concierge practices, which has allowed her the ability to give patients outstanding care.
A California native, Donelle recently made Austin, TX her new home. During her free time, she loves spending time with her son exploring the parks, rivers and adventures Austin has to offer.
Lauren Lipari Gendelman, RN, BSN
Surgical Nurse Navigator
After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Lauren began her nursing career in oncology. She worked in Chicago as an oncology nurse for over ten years, obtaining her oncology nurse and chemotherapy certifications, and later specializing in gynecologic oncology. She held a Lead RN position leading a team of nurses for many years at the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center in Chicago.
Lauren took some time off to raise her two daughters and relocate to Austin. She always had a passion for plastic surgery and was thrilled to have the opportunity to become part of The Piazza Center in March 2019. Lauren was able to take her vast knowledge and experience in oncology and apply it to her current practice. Patient education has been a long-time strength and here at The Piazza Center she provides one-on-one educating to patients and family members prior to any procedure. It is important to her that all patients’ concerns and questions are addressed prior to any procedure, ensuring the patient feels confident and at ease going forward. Lauren feels that patient education will not only improve a patient’s health, but their surgical outcome as well.
Lauren currently lives in the Hill Country with her husband, two daughters and dog Roxy. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, fitness, the outdoors, music and more.
At The Piazza Center, we believe that beautiful surgical results are enhanced by leading a healthy lifestyle. Our aim is to help you achieve your cosmetic goals and desires. Our reputation for personalized care and excellent results attracts plastic surgery patients from San Antonio and beyond.
