This 41-year-old Austin, Texas female interested in discussing breast reduction surgery options with Dr. Piazza at his Austin Plastic Surgery office. She felt that the weight and size of her breasts made it increasingly uncomfortable to play and care for her two young children, contributing to back and shoulder, and neck pain. Even with successful weight loss of 30 lbs. she felt her breast size was inhibiting her active lifestyle. Anxious to continue meeting her weight loss goals and return to her active lifestyle without the pain associated with her breast size she made an appointment for a breast reduction consultation with Dr. Piazza in Austin, Texas. During her initial consultation, Dr. Piazza explained the different breast reduction techniques and discussed the short scar procedure known as the SPAIR technique. The SPAIR technique leaves no scars on the central portion of the breast or the “cleavage” leaving the breast very natural and proportional with minimal scarring. The day before her surgery she met with Dr. Piazza and his registered nurse, Hayley to discuss all post-operative medications and instructions at his office at Seton Southwest Hospital. In surgery, Dr. Piazza removed approximately 650 grams of skin, fat and breast tissue from each breast, while sculpting her breasts to create a pleasing shape, while still leaving her with breasts appropriate for her figure. He also reduced the size of her areolas and centered her nipples and areolas over her breast mound. After surgery, she recovered comfortably at home. She is happy with the size and shape of her breasts and has increased her level of physical fitness continuing on her weight loss journey. She is back to performing normal activities and caring for her young children without the back, neck, and shoulder discomfort.
