The Short Answer
What do Motiva Preservé results and recovery look like?
Motiva Preservé is a modern approach to breast augmentation that preserves the breast's natural tissues, ligaments, and chest muscle while creating a soft, natural-looking enhancement that complements a woman's anatomy. Because we minimize disruption to these structures, patients often experience less discomfort, immediate freedom of arm movement, and a faster recovery, with many returning to everyday activities in just 3–4 days.
Preservé at a Glance
Technique: Motiva Preservé™ (tissue preservation)
Placement: Above the muscle, without cutting it
Implants in these cases: Motiva Ergonomix® Mini, Demi and Full, 150cc to 275cc
Back to daily life: Many patients in 3–4 days
Back to exercise: Gradually, weeks 3–4, with clearance
Why it recovers differently: Recovery after augmentation is driven largely by what gets cut. Preservé leaves the muscle, ligaments and breast tissue intact, so there is far less to heal.
Patients who search for Preservé before-and-afters usually want to know two things: will it look like me, and how fast will I be back to my life. Below are four real Austin patients, each with her height, weight and implant where we have them, followed by Dr. Piazza's week-by-week recovery and his honest view of who the technique is and isn't for.
Four Real Preservé Results, 150cc to 275cc

Notice what these four have in common. None of them look “done.” The 275cc result on a 5′2″ frame and the 230cc result on a 5′7″ frame read as similar in proportion, because the implant was chosen for each body rather than from a size chart. That idea gets its own guide: how to choose your breast implant size.
Recovery After Preservé, Week by Week
In Dr. Piazza's words, here is what most patients experience. Your own timeline is set at your consultation.
Days 1–3
Take it easy. Gentle walking and normal arm movement are encouraged. Most patients experience surprisingly little discomfort compared with traditional breast augmentation.
Days 4–7
Most patients can return to work and normal daily activities, provided their work isn't physically demanding.
Week 2
Swelling continues to decrease, and the breasts begin to soften and settle into their natural shape. Most daily activities feel comfortable.
Weeks 3–4
Most patients can gradually return to their normal exercise routines with clearance. Breast shape continues to refine over the following months.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Preservé?
A good candidate
My ideal Preservé patient is a woman who wants a beautiful, proportional enhancement without unnecessarily disrupting her natural anatomy. She has adequate soft tissue coverage, relatively good breast shape, and values preserving her muscle function, natural breast movement, and long-term tissue health.
Probably a different plan
Preservé isn't necessarily the right choice for women with very thin tissue coverage, significant breast sagging that requires a lift, or those desiring implants larger than their anatomy can safely support. Previous breast surgery or complex anatomy may also require a different approach.
If you’re weighing a lift, the 230cc case above walks through how Dr. Piazza decided she didn’t need one. A longer candidacy checklist lives in who is a good candidate for Motiva Preservé.
The goal isn't simply to make breasts larger. It's to create beautiful, natural results while preserving as much of the body's healthy anatomy as possible. I believe the best breast augmentation is one that looks beautiful today while respecting how a woman's body will age over time. — Dr. Rocco Piazza
Motiva Preservé FAQ
How long is recovery after Motiva Preservé?
Most patients return to work and normal daily activities within 4 to 7 days if their job isn't physically demanding, and many are back to everyday life in 3 to 4 days. Exercise usually comes back gradually in weeks 3 to 4, once Dr. Piazza clears you.
Is Motiva Preservé placed above or below the muscle?
Above it. Preservé places the implant without cutting or lifting the chest muscle, which is a large part of why patients have immediate freedom of arm movement and less discomfort than with traditional under-the-muscle augmentation.
What size implants work with Preservé?
The cases on this page range from 150cc to 275cc. Preservé depends on having enough soft tissue to cover the implant, so the right size is the one your anatomy can support. Very large implants are usually a reason to consider a different approach.
Can I have Preservé if I need a breast lift?
Significant sagging that requires a lift usually means Preservé on its own isn't the right plan. When a lift is needed, Dr. Piazza designs a combined approach. You can see one in our 60-year-old breast lift case study.
When will I see my final result?
You'll see the change right away, but swelling settles over the first few weeks and the breasts soften into their final shape over the following months.
