Prepectoral Breast Reconstruction Before & After Pictures of Patient 33Back
This 64-year-old female was recently diagnosed with right breast cancer when she came to see Dr. Piazza at his Austin plastic surgery practice. She desired to undergo immediate right breast reconstruction at the time of her mastectomy procedure to reconstruct her right breast. She was happy with the appearance of her left breast and wanted her reconstructed right breast to match what was being lost with her cancer surgery of her right breast. She did not want to use an implant to reconstruct her breast, but wanted a very natural appearing breast that fit her body.
Dr. Piazza spent an hour with her taking the time to discuss all the options associated with breast reconstruction. He explained that the best option for this patient based on her concerns and desires was to perform a volume-added latissimus dorsi flap to reconstruct her right breast. What this means- is that Dr. Piazza surgically moves a back muscle to reconstruct the breast and to fill up the breast envelope giving a natural shape to the reconstructed breast. At a later date, he then creates a nipple using special techniques.
Her breast reconstruction surgery was done in a fully accredited hospital surgical facility in Austin, Texas. After a few days of recovery in the hospital, she was discharged to home with her family. After about 5 weeks from surgery, she finally felt 100%. The photos shown here are after 9 months from her reconstructive procedure to create the right breast and 3 months after the formation of her right nipple-areola complex.
