Prominent Ear Surgery Before & After Pictures of Patient 14Back
This 27-year-old male scheduled a consult to discuss the possibility of correcting his prominent ears. Ever since he was a small child, his ears have bothered him. He sought a consultation with Dr. Piazza in Austin, Texas for the facial plastic surgery procedure known as an otoplasty. He had been teased throughout elementary school, middle school and high school with regards to the size, shape and prominence of his ears.
During his initial consultation, Dr. Piazza examined the young man and noted that he had a very common presentation with a protruding cup portion of the ear and the underdevelopment of one of the folds of the ear. Dr. Piazza explained that the correction of the ear anatomy would create an ear that better fit with the patient’s face. A set-back technique would also be used to allow his ears to rest naturally against the side of his face.
The day after surgery, his dressing was removed, and he immediately liked his new appearance. He recovered very quickly, wearing a headband for two weeks at night to protect his ears.
This procedure was performed with gentle sedation at Seton Southwest as an outpatient surgery.
