Austin Plastic Surgeon Distinguished With FACS Designation
Dr. Rocco C. Piazza, a plastic surgeon in Austin specializing in breast augmentation and facial treatments, is now a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Austin, Texas (December 2014) — Dr. Rocco C. Piazza (www.thepiazzacenter.com), one of the leading plastic surgeons in Austin and founder of The Piazza Center, recently became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), an organization whose membership is limited to board-certified specialists who meet stringent standards.
"It's an honor to be named among this year's FACS group," Dr. Piazza says. "The college is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in the world for surgeons and surgical education. Becoming a Fellow fulfills one of my professional and personal goals."
By meeting the college's stringent membership requirements, the group says, "Fellows have earned the distinguished right to use the designation of 'FACS' (Fellow, American College of Surgeons) after their names." Dr. Piazza was among 1,640 initiates this year.
Membership in the American College of Surgeons is limited to board-certified surgical specialists. The scientific and educational organization founded in 1913 aims to raise the standards of surgical practice and to improve the quality of care for surgical patients. It is the largest organization of surgeons in the world, and it requires years of advanced training and practical experience, as well as an ethical and professional review by a board of regents.
Dr. Piazza is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. He is also a member of the well-regarded American Society of Plastic Surgeons® and several other industry groups.
Dr. Piazza, who grew up in Austin, is a breast augmentation and facial rejuvenation specialist who earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston after graduating from Baylor University in 2001. He completed his plastic surgery residency at Michigan State University and trained under world-renowned breast surgeon Dr. Dennis Hammond in Grand Rapids.
Returning to Texas to open Southwest Austin's first plastic surgery center in 2010, Dr. Piazza says his goal is to consistently remain on the leading edge of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, as well as non-surgical skin treatments.
"My top priority as a surgeon is always to provide my patients excellent care and beautiful results," Dr. Piazza says. "Becoming an FACS physician helps me do that. It shows my patients my commitment to ensuring I consistently strive for what's most important to them."
