Eyelid and Brow Surgery
Many people believe that the eyes say it all. They are the focal points of the face, and often express how we are feeling. Sometimes, however, the eyes may falsely convey feelings, such as fatigue or anger, when signs of aging affect our expression. Lax, wrinkled upper lids, or bags beneath the eye, as well as a wrinkled, sagging brow can result in a tired or even stern appearance. For those longing to appear bright and youthful, brow lift and/or blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) from Austin board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Rocco Piazza, can help restore your look.
At The Piazza Center, we believe that beautiful surgical results are enhanced by a healthy lifestyle. Our aim is to help you achieve your cosmetic goals and desires. If you would like to find out more about eyelid surgery or brow lift, you can request a consultation online, or call our office at (512) 551-1067.
Your Eyelid or Brow Procedure
After assessing your concerns and your cosmetic goals, Dr. Piazza will determine whether a brow lift, upper or lower blepharoplasty (or all of these) will help achieve the look you desire. Once the surgical plan is set, Dr. Piazza will perform your surgery. Eyelid surgery is often performed in combination with an endoscopic brow lift in order to provide optimal results.
Upper Eyelid Surgery
This method of eyelid surgery can help remove excess skin of the upper eyelid that contributes to a tired, sagging or "hooded" appearance. To perform an upper blepharoplasty, the incisions will be created in the natural folds and creases of the eyes. Once the incision is created, excess fat and skin can be removed.
Lower Eyelid Surgery
Lower eyelid surgery in Austin can help women and men who experience puffiness underneath the eyes. To perform lower blepharoplasty, Dr. Piazza will create an incision along the lower lid in order to conceal any scarring. Then, excess fat and is removed and repositioned in this area. Also, the underlying muscles can be tightened. Once this has been performed, the incision is closed.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
Sagging brows and a wrinkled forehead are best addressed through an endoscopic brow lift, which is frequently paired with eyelid surgery. This procedure smoothes forehead lines and lifts the brows to a more youthful position. The procedure is performed using small, camera-guided instruments, allowing Dr. Piazza to use a series of tiny incisions hidden within the hairline.

Dr. Piazza Answers Common Questions
Does eyelid surgery remove crow's feet?
No, eyelid surgery does not remove crow's feet. Eyelid surgery is designed to treat either the upper or lower eyelid, and remove excess skin and fat. Most people find that the combination of eyelid surgery with endoscopic brow lift provides the complete rejuvenation of the upper face that they want. However, there are other treatments for crow's feet that are also helpful, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic.
Will insurance cover my eyelid surgery procedure?
Insurance may or may not cover your eyelid procedure, depending on your insurance and the level of excess skin you have of the upper eyes. For instance, insurance might cover the surgery if you have so much excess skin that it impairs your vision. If this is not the case, insurance typically does not cover the procedure.
Are the results of eyelid and brow lift surgery permanent?
Eyelid and brow lift surgery both involve surgical excision of the muscles, fat and tissue for long-lasting results. However, other factors that have contributed to sagging and aging of the eye area will continue, such as the natural aging process, thinning of skin, and possibly sun damage.

Your Eyelid and Brow Lift Surgery Results
Once your surgery is completed, Dr. Piazza will use sutures to close the incisions. Then, you will be sent home to rest and recover. Most patients experience about a week of recovery time, depending on which procedures are performed. After a few weeks, bruising and swelling should be resolved.
