I am always looking for ways to improve and perfect the patient experience at my Austin plastic surgery office—and as we have now begun the new year—I want to share with you my top three questions (and answers) to help you choose your plastic surgeon for a breast augmentation procedure in Austin.
1. Q: Is your surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Member Surgeon of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)?
A: Yes and Yes! All ASPS members are board-certified in plastic surgery. This means that these surgeons have undergone rigorous and the most advanced training in this specialty and are held to the highest standards when it comes to competence and education in plastic surgery for life. Your consultation must be performed by a surgeon who meets both of these criteria when considering a breast enhancement procedure.
2. Q: What exactly is the Keller Funnel™2, why is this an important part of the procedure and does your surgeon use this when performing a breast augmentation?
A: The Keller Funnel™2 is the next generation implant delivery device that provides exceptionally gentle and quick delivery of all silicone gel implants. The clear, conical-shaped device empowers surgeons to deliver an array of prefilled implants with ease, while employing a No-Touch technique to reduce the risk of bacteria contaminating the surface of the implant shell. I use this in every breast augmentation procedure in my practice because it improves safe implant delivery and superior outcomes.
3. Q: What you need to know when looking at breast augmentation before and after photo galleries?
A: Make sure that before and after photos are taken within photographic standards set before us by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. What I mean by this is that the background/ lighting are similar as well as the position of the patient. I feel that patients should expect the highest quality when it comes to before/after photographs. It is also important to remember that when looking at before/after photos– you want to look at patients who have a similar body type and breast shape as you do! This helps us to make sure that we are all on the same page.
